I'm free...

I'm free... today was the last of my commitments on the board at our school. Hannah "graduated" from pre-school this morning in a very cute ceremony and this afternoon was our year end picnic in which I was responsible for the raffle and silent auction. It was a long day after a long year that in one way seemed to go so very quickly. ( I am going to miss all the kids from H's class) Tomorrow I will turn over the $ and be free to enjoy summer vacation with the tiny girl. Oh, and speaking of "vacations", we got good news on Friday that when Hannah returns to school in the fall she will in fact be going back to the same school and kindergarten!! We are so thrilled that she will be in a small and loving class with a teacher she adores. That's one bit of stress that we can put behind us!!

Spring Favs
I am too pooped to upload any pix from today so I will try to do that tomorrow. Instead I am posting my current batch of Flickr favorites. I know many of you will appreciate the shabby, vintage colors and subjects.

New season, new color...

Everything is in bloom around here. The trees are fluffy and white and look about as close to snow-covered as we will ever get around here. New green buds on the trees, cherry blossoms, bulb flowers.. bits of pink and yellow peeking out.
I love the colors of spring. I find it all so fresh and inspiring, everything is new. New season, new look here... I just whipped up this banner quickly when I stumbled on this artwork from an old postcard. I love when things just sort of fall together. I made a matching one for my Etsy shop too.

No new art projects to share today. I have been busy gathering things (ordering) for ArtFest so I made a springy flickr favorites mosaic out of pictures I find inspiring and beautiful. Enjoy....

inspiration and news

Spring Fling
Da funk has mostly lifted, I am still mildly frustrated but that will pass. I am putting that last finishing touches on Eye Candy though the bulk of it has gone to the printer aka my Dad. I am excited to get them off to Teesha and for people to get them in their packages. As soon as they start printing I will list them for sale on the Portals website. Issue #5 has been delayed at least 2 weeks. All updates are posted in the News Dept on Portals-Zine.com.

Anyhoo, I have been spending time in my newly organized studio and I am proud to say that I have been STAYING organized. Everything is easier and therefore less procrastinating!! Yay. I have completely sold out of my vintage birdie postcards and have reordered them. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. In addition I have had some inquiry about wholesale on my Whimsy Jars so I am hustling to acquire some more of these wee millinery flowers and some pom pom trims.. if anyone has any that they'd be willing to swap for, please email me!! I will be trying to work on these jars in addition to swaps for ArtFest in the coming weeks. My goal for tomorrow and Monday it to order the tools and supplies I need for my AF classes and to get some photos uploaded to share!!

Thanks to those of you who have posted and emailed little cheer up/ I've been there/ its ok to rant messages. I felt a little selfish dumping like that but the notes made me feel better and despite my not posting for a few days again I have been feeling better. It is so nice to know that there is a slew of people out there in blog land who get it and can commiserate. The internet truly is a wonderous thing, especially to those of us who live in podunk little towns.

Finally, in lieu of any of my own photos I am sharing a selection of my Flickr favorites for February in this post. I think that Flickr is so amazing in the vast amounts of inspiration you can find there and also it is a great place to find other like minded- like tasted people.. just like in blog land!

PS Is it only me or can others not post to Blogs that require the visual verification thingie? I am going to temporarily disable mine. Argh, all day I have been trying to comment places and can't!!

fall has fallen...

Colors of Autumn

I am still without camera so pictures of MY stuff will be fewer and further between until I can get it replaced or repaired. I will be taking it in on Saturday with fingers crossed that it is only minimally damaged.

Its often hard to tell, its such a fine line; but fall has fallen here in central California. The trees have turned golden and leaves are falling. The weather is beautiful but decidedly cooler and crisper. There is a rustling along the streets ans crisp leaves tumble.

This is my favorite time of year. (with the exception of my blasted allergies) There is something about the colors snd the light at this time of year. It makes me feel cozy and warm; that last bastion against an inevitably dreary winter suffering from SAD. These are the images I will hold to when I am feeling dark and lonely.

November holds much to look forward to and I am eager to get going... My birthday, a Disneyland trip and Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie, hot cocoa and time spent with friends, time working on Holiday gifts, perhaps the return of my knitting needles and some colorful yarn. I look forward to seeing what this autumn has is store for us.

September Favs

No pictures today so I am sharing my latest set of favorite photos from other Flickr users as eye candy. We spent a beautiful, fall day today running some errands and fixing up the wee one's wagon for our annual Rennaisance Festival jaunt tomorrow. We have been taking the B since she was 6 weeks old in a Baby Bjorn and this year she finally gets it and is excited to go. We will be attending in costume as usual and she will be sproting a new faerie outfit.

I will get pix of the wagon tomorrow with its new red paint job and custom canopy with roll down sides! Maybe a snap or two of us in our faire finery.

I am off to attampt a bloggie hack thanks to some tips from Mamarox. Stay tuned...
