amazing

We bring you a short break from our regularly scheduled programming:

I'm not sure where I got this book but I finished it last night and I have to say that this is amongst the BEST books I have ever read! I zipped through this book and found myself in tears (ok, bawling!) as it ended, but then I wanted more. The author, Audrey Niffenegger, really drew me in and made me feel for the characters so much so that I think I lost sleep over this book from my mind turning everything over that I had read. I find that I am still thinking about it! A MUST read!!

I think I am towards the bottom of my book stack. Any recommendations??

  3. Hi Heather....

I LOVE the book "Gift from the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh and "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom. Mitch's book is also a REAL tear jerker.

But Anne's book is sheer poetry for the soul!

    Enjoy!

  4. The Time Traveller's Wife is one of my favorites, as well. It was one of the first novels I read when I moved to my new home with my husband. Very memorable book, indeed!

    I recommend:

    Sappho's Leap by Erica Jong

    The Plague by Albert Camus

The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl

  5. I agree, The Secret Life of Bees is great, and I also finished The Mermaid Chair by the same author. Not as good as Bees, but still good. I just finished The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. It kinda picks up where The Notebook left off. I also really liked The Five People You Meet in Heaven.

  6. I have been wanting to read this book but haven't seen it at Goodwill yet...that's where I buy most of my books:):) I would recommend Nicholas Sparks - Three Weeks with my Brother or The Guardian...I agree that the Wedding was great...or Anita Shreve - I have loved everything I have read by her.
I liked She's Come Undone (I don't remember the author) or The Lovely Bones (I don't remember that author either)

  7. I so loved the The Time Traveller's Wife also... when I was close to the end I stayed up until like 4am to finish it; I just couldn't put it down. It was the kind of book I didn't want to end!

I just finished My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult, which I see someone above recommended. Definitely an emotional read... excellent book, but be sure to stock up on tissues first!

My mind went blank right now and I cannot think of any other books to recommend... but I will tell you the next book I am about to start is Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern. It was recommended to me by both my mom and aunt who say it is a nice light-hearted read, something I sorely need after reading My Sister's Keeper.

  8. OMG!!! I am SO glad you loved the "Time Travelers Wife"! One of my favorite books of all time...I've read it like 5 times now (I know, ridiculous!) But I can't even get my "reader" friends (all two! LOL!) to read it, cuz I can't explain how good it is...and it's way hard to explain what it's "about"...
SO glad you liked it too! Now I'm not the ONLY one I "know"! HA!

  9. The Mercy of Thin Air by Ronlyn Domingue was a beautiful story.
And Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold was another one - you'll need kleenex.
Also I really enjoyed After You'd Gone by Maggie O'Farrell.
And the Big Stone Gap Series by Adriana Trigiani - oh is that a good laugh and cry and laugh and cry........
