Just call her "Gappy"

Today I was busy working on my computer and busy plotting how to conquer yet another round of clutter and stuff when the phone rang. The caller ID said it was Hannah's school so my heart skipped a tiny beat. When the director's voice came laughing on the phone I just assumed that it was a website question or some other little thing. She said, "Oh don't worry. We have had a little bit of an exciting event and we wanted to call you. I will put Hannah on." Hannah came on, kind of teary and mumbling something about losing something. I couldn't really understand what was going on so i started to worry a bit. Next thing I know, her teacher from last year comes on and says "Heather, everything is fine. Hannah lost a tooth!" Seems she was eating a cherry and all of a sudden her tooth popped out. We didn't even realize it was loose, if it was. I assured Hannah that it was fine, that she is a big girl and we had talked to the dentist about this happening. It didn't hurt and we were all sure the tooth fairy would visit her tonight. I wonder what the going rate for teeth is these days?

We had dinner with one of her little BFF's tonight and he was suitably impressed with the tiny gap her in mouth. She brushed her teeth very carefully tonight before heading off to bed with giddy tooth fairy dreams waiting to be born...

  2. I'll get right on it...
true story: My twins were talking to their friends at school about what their mom's jobs were. One kids mom was a teacher, another worked at the grocery store, etc. I thought "This should be interesting" because I'm a stay-at-home mom. So I asked them what they told their friends I did. Without hesitation, they both said "You're the tooth fairy". I busted up laughing but their faces were so serious and so I asked them if they really thought I was the tooth fairy and they did! They thought I was *the* tooth fairy for everyone!
    They're 18 now. I haven't told them the truth yet. :o)

  3. Oh how sweet...I hope the tooth fairy remembers because sometimes she forgets, or they went to bed too late, or their room was too messy, or they couldn't find the tooth or they were booked up for that night OR in reality we just forgot!!!! I don't know what the going rate is but our tooth fairy gives $1.00 for little teeth and $2.00 for big teeth and $1.50 for when you swallow your tooth without realising!!!! Hope the tooth fairy is right on time, have a happy weekend, kiss noises Linda Lilly Cottage.

  4. How exciting! I was one of the last of my friends and classmates to start losing teeth and I remember I couldn't wait for the tooth fairy to come!

  5. Heather, this is so funny, I just blogged about the same thing the other day! Check out the cutie little tooth pillow I made in preparation for the boy losing the first one. As for Linda's comment...do they REALLY swallow them?! I can so see my son doing that *grin*

  6. That is soo cute! Make sure to remind the tooth fairy to arrive... but if you fall asleep and forget, when you go to wake her up, quick throw it under her bed and tell her that she must have knocked it off while she was sleeping...

  8. She is so cute! I'm amazed at how much the tooth fairy brings! I think that it should always be coins (well, here in Canada that could mean $2).

  13. What a cute picture!! Their gappy grins are so cute arent they, as well as the slight lisp that seems to suddenly appear!! It is the same tooth that little floss lost - so funny! I think I was a little too generous but I felt the first tooth was a big deal - hope I haven't set a precedent!!!
