I have been staying up much too late lately... reading... My friend recommended this book and I picked it up before we went to LA and started reading it at the hotel. OMG I love it, its hard to put down and I have to force myself to close it and go to sleep. I will be done tonight. I so wanted to finish it last night but I saw it blinking 2 a.m. on my clock for the third night in a row and decided I had better try to get some shut eye. I have read some great books but this one sucked me in right from the get go and I can't wait to turn each page. Its always bittersweet ending a book like this because it is such good reading that you want to know the end but you don't want the story to end...
Pick it up!
"As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival."
