thrifty decorating

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. Our day started out kind of over cast but by the time we reached brunch it had cleared up and was quite lovely. Had a nice time with family and friends and a relaxing afternoon at home with the little one and her friend. Speaking of the little one, she picked out these pretty pink roses for me. I love them, they smell very nice and have a tiny bit of green veining. I scored finding this bottle/ vase at Home Goods for $5 because it was missing the stopper. Its so pretty with the etched medallion and the perfect size for a handful of flowers.
Along with the vase we also got a pile of pillows to plump up our "new" day bed. We moved it out of H's room when she got her loft bed (which she is still camping under) and replaced our beat up love seat with it. We added a new mattress and I pulled out the vintage bark cloth cover that I have had stashed for ever to make this yummy little area for lounging, watching TV or reading. Despite my attempts to pull in a cream and blue color scheme it looks like the sagey green is going to stick around but its ok.. I love it. ( yeah just disregard the window clings. "Someone" has been creating and decorating, but I think its time they go into her room)

  5. This looks so lovely. I have some wallpaper that would fit this room perfectly. I really NEED to make something for you from that paper. I hope you haven't changed the color scheme by the time I get around to it:)
