Remember September

I haven't really seen any posts referencing 9-11 today. I don't know if people are trying to forget or what the thought processes are out there in blog land. If you are one of those trying to avoid the media today or forget, I guess you came to the wrong place today, I'm sorry.
I am of the firm belief that we should never forget this date, or how we felt that day or that we should ever TRY to forget.

6 years ago we had friends in the middle of the mayhem that was New York City and we lost a friend on Flight 77. I remember 9-ll like it was yesterday and just the vision of all the flags flying in our small downtown today choked me up and brought tears to my eyes. I watched a brief thing on remembering 9-11 today and that was enough to reduce me to tears.

Thinking about this and talking to Shosh today, we reflected on how it is to raise a child in this sort of climate. Its not just the threat or terrorism but our waning confidence in our government. I am opposed to our being in Iraq and almost as vividly as I remember 9-11. I remember the announcement coming over the radio that we had officially gone to war. I had my baby in my belly at the time and I thought, "how can I bring a baby into this world?" Well, obviously it was too late at that time but it is hard every day watching the news and hearing about whatever our president (dictator) is up to. Is his term over yet? YES I support and honor our troops who put their lives on the line everyday to protect our so called freedoms. THANK YOU to those who are on the lines and the families who support them from home.

I am sorry, I have gotten off into rambling. My brain doesn't work for very long stretches the past couple of weeks because I have so much going. I guess my point is.. never forget and don't be complacent. Peace.

  2. Hi Heather,
I've seen a few posts around, Heather Pretty Petals has a lovely video clip worth checking out. We should all remember, it was horrifying watching it on live TV here in Australia.
Peace for sure, that should be what it is all about.

  7. You know, I forgot all about it until halfway thru the day! I don't know why--I have never forgotten before and never intend to do it again. I remember 9-11 well. So many tears during that time. Lots of stories. One was that we had turned on the TV at 7 am because we heard on the radio (when it came on to wake us up) that a plane had crashed into one of the towers. We saw the second one hit and I felt so sick.

  8. I didn't forget -- never will! Just find it hard to talk about such horrendous events. The comfort I have is that one day the Lord will deal with it.
