My heart is not actually completely full of joy right now. I am saddened and frustrated at the future of Portals or more
directly the partnership that was Portals. Joleen has been undergoing a lot, the full extent of which I am not fully aware, and it has been decided to dissolve the partnership.
My mind is spinning right now with all that there is to do and my schedule. During the limited discussions that we have had Joleen agreed to finish up her half of Portals issue #5, however it now appears that circumstances are going to prevent that so the whole issue is in my lap with 10 days until ArtFest.
I really hate being in the situation of having to make excuses and be late but I am afraid that at this point it is inevitable. I am continuing to work on issue #5 (as we speak) and I am progressing fairly well, if a bit slower than usual. As you may know, I just got the special issue, Eye Candy, off and it is in production now. I still have to track down Joleen's half of the Portals #5 work and her contacts and do my best to fit this puzzle together. I just wanted to fill everyone in on the situation here and to apologize for the blip in the production schedule.
If I can be of any help to you with this Heather, please let me know.
ReplyDeleteHeather, I can only imagine how panicked you are about this, but please know that I am behind you 100%. I am sure that all of your subscribers will be totally understanding! Portals is a totally unique and wonderful zine, the best I have ever seen. I hope that you can find a solution that works for you. I hope you don't have to give up your dream, because this is such a wonderful publication. I, too, will be willing to help if you can think of anything you want me to do!!!!!! and lastly, if the zine is late, that is perfectly fine with me, I just want you to enjoy Artfest to the utmost!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteSo sorry that there is this added stress to you. I think that folks are pretty understanding..so they will be patient for as long as it takes to iron it all out.
ReplyDeleteHope it is soon, for your sake.
Love your work and the little egg, BTW..
Heather, we all love to think that we are Wonder Woman, Super Mom, Super Artist, #1 chef. It has taken some time but now I am able to say yes I am Super, but Super could use a little help. I do not need to do it all and make it all perfect. You do to the best of your ability without overloading. Good Luck on this challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh Heather.....take a deep breath, you poor thing.
ReplyDeleteNOT ONE person has any right to complain about the next issue if it's late....you are only human and only one person.
If there is anything I can help with and I say that meaning John and I.....please let me know !!!!
Hang in their my "warm" friend....everything happens for a reason.....and you'll be okay and so will Portals !!!!!
Heather,
ReplyDeleteI received my first copy of portals about a month ago and loved it. I think that whatever you do will work out fine and everyone will understand if it is late or a little different than other issues. Part of what makes it so great is knowing that it is made by people like you who do have other things going on in their life. So, sometimes life happens and things change, but I am sure you will do great and we will love it just the same. I hope that you are able to get over the stress of it and really start looking forward to artfest. Enjoy the pre-artfest excitment while you can! The stress will still be there later (just like the laundry...)

Hey Heather, if there is any way I can help you-editing, writing, or whtever, just holler. I would be happy to lend a hand. I am so sorry things have gotten to this pont and I hope that somehow you will be able to continue Portals in some fashion, even if it's smaller or farther apart or whatever. I think the zine is wonderful and worth every penny.

Man! Having just re-read my post and seeing all the typos, you would be smart not to hire me as an editor. ROFL! Put it down to a long day with a bored kid on spring break.
ReplyDeleteoh Heather, I am so sorry this is happening to you. I know it's easy for me to say not to worry..people will understand. In this very stressful situation. I hope that you are able to relax and enjoy ArtFest. Look forward to seeing you SOON! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help:)

Hi Heather,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are a little low on joy...one of my favorite Chinese proverbs is "You cannot prevent the birds of sadness from passing over your head but you can prevent their making nests in your hair." I hope you can shake off those blues soon!! Hugs,
Ellen
I'm sorry too. That's poopy-doopy and being stressed is never a good thing. But did you know Stressed spelled backwards is Desserts? Would you like some chocolate? ;)
ReplyDelete((hugs))
