dilemmas and inspirations

Wow, tomorrow is February. January just raced on by. I was really good and finished up my Design Team assignment a couple of weeks ago and I will share it tomorrow along with a give away. So be sure to check back!

This cute little heart decoration was a piece I picked up at the dollar store a while back and embellished with a little pink paint, vintage buttons and German glass glitter. I think it makes a fun decoration for February with out being over the top Valentine's Day themey. The cute little house is a pin from Berries in the Meadow that I just love. Their things are so cute and sweet.

If you see my Facebook you will know I am have been contemplating the things I want to do to spruce up our home seeing as how we will be stuck here
forever. LOL My DH is almost do
ne painting the entire outside of our house, and it looks great! It makes me so happy when I drive up to it and see how cute it looks. Here is a picture.
Anyway my next project is my living room. It has been a dark "Ralph
Lauren" red for years and I am ready for a change. I want to lighten it and freshen it up again and my major dilemma is whether or not to paint over all the brick along the end wall. I am currently debating between doing a wash over it or painting the whole deal. I'd appreciate any ideas, input or inspirational links as to how others might have tackled similar problems. I plan to paint the red portion a creamy mocha color and use aqua blue as an accent since I seem to have gathered many things in that color. Aside from that.. I am open to suggestions.

  1. Your house colors are so fun and cheery! I don't have much advice on the brick but am very curious to see what you do. We have a brick fireplace and I can't stand it - I'd love to redo it with river rock but that ain't about to happen budget wise. Hubby doesn't want to paint it. I was going to paint it anyway but I think he will flip out. There is some kind of brick finish I can't remember the name of right now. I believe Georgia Peachez is where I read about it a while ago.

  3. We had the same dillemma in my laundry room. The original chiminey is in there, brick. This house original had a coal burning furnace. When we had a flood in the the carpet had to be torn out,. We painted the walls white and the cememnt floor gray and then inspioration hit and I painted the brick chimmney gray also. A lighter gray but definitely gray and I love it. We did it as a wash so the old charm still holds. I even painted the tin hole cover the same shade as the floor as well. I think a wash is best.
