disaster narrowly averted

Oh my god.. what a day! I downloaded updates for my computer and then went to reboot and it would NOT BOOT UP!! All I could do is think about the work I would lose.. the issue #5 Zine, my art and some top secret projects. I literally felt sick. BUT!! Super dad strikes again and was able to talk me through a recovery and reinstall of my OS and I didn't lose a thing! Thanks dad!!

Pheeew, in good news I got my hands on a card reader today so I can start sharing my tags for Tammy's tag swap. I am going to space them out a bit since there are 12 in all so I will post just a few each day. There was no real set theme and I have great difficulty doing ANY sort of production work so each of my tags is unique. I played with some ideas for the polka dot book that I am hosting and have a direction to go now that I have my book. Again, I imagine that each of my pages will be unique.

I should mention that the fun watercolored backgrounds on some of these tags are courtesy of my fabulous daughter who painted a sheet of watercolor paper for me to cut up. I wish I could be as FREE as she is in her artwork. I am going to try to bribe her to make me another sheet :).

Finally, since I had to run up to Gilroy to Best Buy to get said card reader I decided to visit the "old downtown" area where I used to have my business before having the wee one. We popped into a couple of antique stores where I struck out on any kind of millinery items or ledgers but at the last minute I scored on this BIG batch of vintage chandelier crystals. The drops measure 2.5" long and there is plenty of crystal beaded chain and some flowery pieces too. I regularly price crystals in shops and on eBay and I think I got a heck of a deal at $35 considering the large crystals can sell for upwards of $3 a piece and there are more than a dozen here. I plan to use some of them in jewelry and probably piece out some of it to sell since its heavy and takes up a lot of room in the studio.

Ok, so that's it for today. I will have more tags for ya tomorrow and a new Blyteh dollie outfit to share. Sleep well ya'll!

  1. Nice score on the crystals!! I try to look for millinery flowers and ledgers when I am antiqueing also and never have any luck. I have bought a few ledgers on ebay but the flowers...toooo pricey!! I love your tags and the backrounds courtesy of your daughter are great.
